DUSTING off the cobwebs will be the priority for Cobras trio Beuran Hendricks, Rory Kleinveldt and Stiaan van Zyl in a three-day tour match against West Indies that starts on Wednesday in Benoni.

Because of injuries, Kleinveldt and Van Zyl last played for the Cobras on October 24 while Hendricks’ most recent game was for SA A on August 2.

The three players have been named in the SA Invitation 13 for a match that does not carry first-class status, which means all members of the squad could see action.

Van Zyl’s involvement would give the Windies’ bowlers a glimpse of what they will be up against in the test series starting in Centurion on December 17.

The uncapped Van Zyl is the only member of the test squad set to play in the Benoni match. Selection convenor Andrew Hudson described Van Zyl as the “logical choice” to replace the injured JP Duminy in the first test.

SA Invitation squad: Dominic Hendricks (captain), Gihahn Cloete, Daryn Dupavillon, Rabian Engelbrecht, Clyde Fortuin, Beuran Hendricks, Rory Kleinveldt, Aviwe Mgijima, Mangaliso Mosehle, Jerry Nqolo, Keegan Petersen, Tabraiz Shamsi, Stiaan van Zyl.
